Jason Fuh, baritone, holds D.M.A. (Doctor of Musical Arts) from the Ohio State University, as well as B.M., M.M., and Artist Diploma from the Cleveland Institute of Music. He has studied with George Vassos, Elizabeth Unis Chesko, Mel Hakola and Robin Rice.

In his doctoral dissertation, Dr. Fuh investigated the musical treatments in Mussorgsky's Песни и Пляски Смерти (Songs and Dances of Death), as well as completing a comprehensive study of Russian diction in IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet).

As a freelance singer, Dr. Fuh recently sang the role of Salieri in the Cleveland Opera's production of Rimsky-Korsakov's Mozart and Salieri. He made his Taiwan operatic debut, performing the role of Count Robinson in Il Matrimonio Segreto (Wan Sha Performing Arts). He has premiered the title role in The Strange Monologues of Edward Derby, a chamber opera by Arturo Fernandez. Other operatic roles performed included: Count Almavia in Le Nozze di Figaro, the title role in Gianni Schicchi, Figaro in The Barber of Seville, Marcello and Schaunard in La Bohème, Brétigny in Manon, Papageno in Die Zauberflöte, the Vicar in Albert Herring and the title role in The Abbot of Drimock. He has performed operas and concerts with Cleveland Opera, Lyric Opera Cleveland, Cleveland Orchestra, CIM Orchestra, Cleveland State University Orchestra, Brevard Music Festival, and Intermezzo Opera.

His 2019 triumph of Schubert’s Winterreise in Taipei National Recital Hall was featured on https://winterreise.online/media/, an Amsterdam based website dedicated to this song cycle. This has inspired Dr. Fuh to engage an ongoing project of performances and master classes on this particular work.

Besides being seen on opera and concert stages, Dr. Fuh appeared as a soloist annually in Handel's Messiah performance with Cleveland Messiah Chorus. He has regularly given recitals, in both the U.S. and Taiwan, devoting himself to art song repertoire. He was invited to perform in the “Chinese Future Stars Recital” held in New York City's Carnegie Hall.

Dr. Fuh was awarded the Elizabeth Stoeckler Stevens Prize in Lieder, the Irvin Bushman Memorial Prize in Vocal Artistry, and First Place in the Darius Milhaud Performance Prize Competition. He was twice selected to participate in the Art Song Festival in Cleveland.

Dr. Fuh is a faculty member of the Beck Center for the Arts and serves as a soloist at St. Paul Shrine and Lakewood Presbyterian Church. He is also a performing member of the Cecilian Musical Art Society.
